Personally, when my brother and I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside resort it was wonderful and we were well catered for and looked after and fully immersed ourselves in the old school bayou plantation feel of the resort. However, when we were there two very tragic things occurred to others that did have a knock on effect slightly. First was the shooting at Gay Club, as a gay man I wasn’t aware until I turned my phone on to hundreds of messages making sure I was okay, but some of the cast members I spoke to had friends there that night. On the second to last day when we were there, a child staying at Saratoga Springs (I believe) was grabbed and killed by an alligator which has snuck into the nearby lake, again, this greyed the feel a little too.

Welcome to Central Florida……. Now pack your bags and go home.

      1. Food poisoning! My cousin got it the first day.
We didn’t say anything the day it happened, but said something the last day. Hindsight is 20/20. The cast member said if we had said something the first day, we may have gotten a free meal or two. Instead, if I remember correctly, we got a few fast passes. We never got to use any of the passes we had for those first two days since she was in the hotel room, sick.

I was going to say the same. Disney doesn’t let people know what is going on bc if they didn’t nobody would come there. And just like they are not going to tell
People and cast members have tested positive for the virus plus they are short staff bc they decided to lay so many cast members off. So if you think your rooms are clean think again.

  2. My sister had a bad experience in August 2020. She was staying at Caribbean Beach, and the only way back and forth to Epcot was by skyliner. While they were at Epcot, a storm rolled in. Disney’s plan was to shut down skyliner and expect guests in a storm to hike from Epcot to Boardwalk Inn and catch a bus there to go back to Caribbean Beach. Needless to say, that was not magical.

We just got back home from, Saratoga Springs, I also found a very large blood stain on our sheet, they did change the sheets, after several trips to the Front Desk, the most upsetting part, was that housekeeping Lied to the evening manager, saying they left us sheets to change ourselves, that was not true! Finally Housekeeping did come and change the sheets, Nothing was offered!! But sorry!!!

First stay – A value resort, Movies, I think – nothing memorable except long waits for buses.

Second stay – Caribbean Resort – Nothing memorable – very spread out resort- long bus waits. With skyliner, I might consider going back.

Third stay – Supposed to be Port Orleans FQ, but was Saratoga Springs – got there and was immediately told our room would not be available and we were shuttled to Saratoga Springs…I really wanted to stay at FQ, I was a little mad, even though it was a higher value resort. Nice room – 2 bedrooms, kitchen, washer and dryer, jacuzzi tub, walking distance to Downtown Disney.

Problems at Saratoga Springs – locked out of room a few times – Power to the resort was gone for a couple of hours one night – not fun with a 2 year old, but I know this can happen. I complained about this and a few other issues and they wiped what I had spent so far off my bill – about $250. Made things better.

Fourth stay – Finally POFQ! Lovely, nice – Perfect lay out – Jacuzzi was broken our whole stay, but pool was nice. Boat access to DD, just nice and easy, breezy…nothing bad comes to mind.

Fifth stay – POP Century – UGH! (but lake view and remolded room was nice)…they were supposed to bring our luggage to our room (we were exhausted after being stuck at DD for 3 hours waiting on a bus), they lost our luggage for several hours. I didn’t account for this happening and some of my kid’s medicine was in there (Not blaming, but still!). So many issues, my other kid had to go to urgent care during our stay – not Disney’s fault – asthma attack. But, they knew she went to urgent care and I read later, that others had calls from Disney staff checking on their kids when this happened. Disney staff knew she went – no calls. I mean, I didn’t expect it, but once I knew it could have happened – wow! Loved the skyliner – this is why we stayed here (it did not disappoint) and not POFQ, again. We only had one longish wait at Epcot for the skyliner at closing to go back to the resort. But, the line moved and was reasonable. We did some resort hopping to POFQ for beignets, and as my kid now as an autoimmune disease which she cannot have gluten – gluten free beignets.

As I mention, during, this trip, we got stuck at Downtown Disney bus terminal for over 3 hours on our first day. So many issues, they added several fast passes to our account, which was ok. So, they sent me a survey after I got back. Let them know all of the problems, and I have a 3-night 4 day trip gratis from Disney waiting for me- hopefully they will extend through 2021, for us to go back. Disney is AMAZING for food allergies – my kid ate like a queen at every restaurant we went to – never had a reaction.

In August 2019 I had multiple issues at Pop Century. Talking to guest services at the resort didn’t resolve the challenge, so I ended up speaking to the manager on duty. He did his best, but the challenges continued. Ended up speaking to the resort general manager then next day, which finally resolved the issues. She was very apologetic, and even offered free MNSSHP tickets for our family of six. I declined, as I was more concerned about the failure to execute and fixing the issue than I was in getting compensation. It took a bit of work, but all ended well. In all cases the resort management was incredibly respectful and accommodating. Getting to the correct decision maker (resort manager) was the key when guest services just wasn’t empowered to help.

The same also goes in reverse! Just saying! I’ve had issues with CM’s not being so “magical”! So please keep that in mind.
