Disneyland Resort has officially announced that a new way to shop for merchandise has arrived.
Called the Disneyland Resort Shopping Reservation, this new system is “a new way to shop for something special.” Ever since Downtown Disney reopened on July 9, Guests have had to join a virtual queue in order to enter popular stores like World of Disney, Marceline’s Confectionery, and the Disney Home store, on particularly busy days at Downtown Disney.
However, now Guests can make a reservation for a different shopping experience prior to arrival. These reservations are valid for a new type of shopping experience at the former ESPN Zone, where we saw the Pop-Up Disney event take place last year. According to the Disneyland Resort website, the ESPN Zone will be the place for Downtown Disney Guests to check out and purchase “new and exciting Disneyland Resort merchandise.”
Disney shared that some of the following items will be available — the 65th anniversary pin collection featuring our favorite Disneyland attractions!
Note that at this time, only one Guest is able to visit per reservation.
Also note that this does not mean any changes are coming to the current shopping experiences (including the virtual queues) at stores like World of Disney at Downtown Disney.
Below is the official description:
Discover an Exciting New Way to Shop for Disney Merchandise
Make a shopping reservation and join us for a wonderful opportunity to purchase some favorite Disneyland Resort Featured Products!
Select a shopping window to visit the former ESPN Zone in the Downtown Disney District to check out some new and exciting Disneyland Resort merchandise.
Additional merchandise outside the Featured Products may be available. The products will be available for a specified time period before other merchandise is offered, so you’ll want to check back here often to see what’s new.
Just a couple hours after reservations opened, Disney announced that they were booked up.

So far, it looks like only the 65th anniversary pins will be available for this first merchandise drop using the new system. But since this new experience is called the Disneyland Resort Shopping Reservation, we are not sure if this will be available whenever popular merchandise items are released in the future. But we are excited to find out more and experience it for ourselves.
