I dont see how Disney World can justify opening finsically with locals only.
The coat of operating a park is enormous and when a good portion are annual pass holders… how much money are they really spending that day?
I still see the best path is resort only. They can control the numbers with limited bookings. Screen guests at the airport or at the gate.
They can even make sure the hotels are no more than 50% booked by limited bookings and upgrading guests. Plus resort guests is where they make their money.
Even with that some parks might not open at all or completely! I would be ok w it but i dont know if others will!? Or they will just complain bc they seem to always do here… and like someone stated prior people would sue for way less! So its catch 22 yes we would go w limits or parks half closed due to line cant not be 6ft but other might go i paid for the whole park! You can not make everyone happy but its not happening until they are aloud too disney is not about to break rules… i want to keep positive and not bring this one up but what if disney is worried like many are about a round 2 or hurricane season esp in fl that would close them right back up! I am trying to be positive but the truth is will all those people whom do not want to leave there bubble right now (no offense to them) will ever feel comfortable while the rest of us want to go to disney like before! Again catch 22 of cant make everyone happy etc. And i am sure disney is smart enough to argue this all out besides they are 4 parks 2 water parks hotels etc its not all going to open overnight it wasnt built over night…. I also have friebds whom work dhs and they said due to normal capacity they can not open and your going to open wdw wo the park w your major attractions right now??? I doubt it!
Your right and thats what we say as ride out guests will not be pleased if rides they want to go on aren’t open as much as safety restrictions some of us as ride out crew know for safety reasons we have to adhere to the rules but after a while the masks etc are a pain! But it is what it is! And it is a clear catch 22 your quite right harley.
I’ve lived 30 min away from Walt Disney World my whole life and am an annual passholder. I can’t wait till they open back up! I’ve been saying they should open up to locals first so I’m all for that idea if they were to go with that! I’m also a healthcare worker so I do believe that if everyone is just conscious about what they are touching and doing and wash and sanitize your hands like you should be doing anyways there shouldn’t big a big deal about going back to the parks.
Locals are more worried about the hurricane season being bad, kids going back to school, lives more normal then when are we going back to wdw ??!@ a manager i know was like my look isnt the disney look anymore and will not be till i get to a barber.
I consider myself a local , I live in south Florida and are an Annual Passholder when we go we need to stay at a resort so they also need to be open. I wish them the best and will patiently wait til it’s ready for business. I love Disney too much to complain and be a naysayer . It is what it is and well enjoy no matter what happens.
What a silly statement. Disney can absolutely decide who gets into the parks and who doesn’t. They could limit attendance to just APs for the next six months and not sell any tickets to the general public.
Not with the level only at 1 for the next few months and only gathers of 10 or less or get arrested…. i do not know about you but i am not getting arrested who do you think you are right on the website disney states they will follow all government advisement and go from there they are not above it! And if you think they are then i am queen of sheba!
Tragically many of us are parents and need to be w our kids and arent really concerned w work right now! I am also unemployed due to unemployment till oct and i doubt disney would have put us out that far if it wasnt bc of this! I also per dr orders can not wear a mask so i guess i am just na anyways though last i heard cms are ready to argue that… so we will see!
No chance it would just open to locals only – very much more likely that it would open to WDW guests in hotels only as that’s how they are most likely to make what money they can. Opening to locals likely means no hotel bookings so that just isn’t going to happen.
Yes it could as our state is only open to us locals no one could come in wo quartine for 14 days and right now we are at level 1 which means no groups of 10 or more for a few months so guess what that makes all this mute!
They wouldn’t open for locals only if they are taking reservations. They will also have hotels opening and locals wouldn’t fill those rooms. It’s a tough decision but they have to open soon, safely and smartly. Limited capacity at each park I’m sure will cause some anxiety with guest that don’t get to do what they are paying for.
Hoping next year is back to normal so we can go again. Don’t want to go until masks are not needed .

If disney opens resorts then they can’t just open the parks to locals only.
Jackie

Masks are mandatory for cms only! They can not force guests whom arent even wearing them in the state to wear em! CMs are even fighting them!
