January 25, 2020, brings about the New Year according to the traditional Chinese calendar, marking the Lunar New Year and beginning the Year of the Rat. To celebrate this milestone, a famous clothier has presented a collection starring our favorite rodent: the Gucci Mickey Mouse Collection! “The Year of the Mouse” sartorial gathering includes over 80 items such as ready-to-wear shirts, tees, dresses, accessories, shoes, bags, and wallets. Each item draws from a distinct style, pattern or color scheme within the collection. Elle Magazine recently posted photos of models garbed in Gucci. Do you recognize the setting of the photoshoot?

Gucci Mickey Mouse Collection
The new collection, debuting today January 3, 2020, launches in stores and online at Gucci as well as select retailers worldwide. Mickey’s iconic look fits well in many retailer’s merchandise collections, like Mickey Makeup, Adidas Shoes, and Torrid’s ongoing styles. It’s no surprise that a Year of the Rat Mickey Collection would be photographed at Disneyland and in Toontown no less! Elle magazine reports, “Photographer and director Harmony Korine shot Gucci ambassador and actress Ni Ni, actor Earl Cave and designer, stylist and poet Zoë Bleu [visited] the happiest place on earth.” They wore many of the items associated with Gucci’s new line, and sometimes more than one item as they smiled and snapped.

Gucci’s Mickey Head Purse
Recently making headlines for their Spring of 2019 3D printed Mickey head purse costing $4500, this Inside the Magic editor also owns the same thing… but as a 1990s Aladdin lunchbox. Gucci’s pricetags are notoriously high, but the vintage vibe from just 30 years ago seems to be repeating and they are scoring on it! Have you seen anyone carrying these bags?
