“We respect fans of Star Wars, that’s really important to us, to Lucasfilm, to the franchise.”
How can he say that, after R Johnson called some of them “manbabies”, after JJ Abrams said the fans felt “threatened by women”, after K Kennedy said when Lucasfilm was sold to Disney that they were “going to let the characters live the way George [Lucas] created them”.
So yeah, of course you can’t please everyone, that’s obvious.
But they don’t respect the fans or the franchise as much as they pretend, and “pleasing everyone’s impossible” is just an excuse.
I mean, there were a lot of really petty & abusive fans who were attacking anyone who defended or supported The Last Jedi. Lots of men were acting like manbabies & targeting actors from the TLJ, behaving in cruel, aggressive ways.
I wouldn’t respect or defend the behavior of those “fans”.
No. There weren’t “a lot” of them. There were just a few. They were just louder than the others, that’s why the attention was directed towards them.
And then they were used as an excuse to insult ALL the fans who didn’t like the new movies, even those who weren’t agressive.
I really enjoyed the movie. It may not have been perfect, but it sure was entertaining and fun to watch. I thought it was a great end to the saga and I grew up with the original trilogy. You can’t please everyone.
Most people I know that have seen it, liked it. Some fans were unhappy that Disney bought Star Wars and won’t be happy with anything that they do.
Episodes I, II and III were the worst and they were George Lucas’ babies.
Lucas had no intention of producing VII, VIII and IX and would never have happened if Disney hadn’t bought it. If it weren’t for Disney, there would be nothing for the fans to complain about.
This right here everyone you can have opinion but please do not lash like your opinion is what we are all supose to follow some people like or even love these movies!
We all kinda forget bc we have lives outside of the franchise that we adults had 4-6 as well as 1-3 which was stated above and multi times before were done horribly by lucas some fans act like they do not exist and lucas gave up after! Lets not pretend just bc Lucas says he was going to do 7-9 now due to said backlash he had NO intention before!! This is next gen star wars for the next gen and i know plenty of kids mine included that love these movies and through that share the star wars enjoyment/fandom! But we are human entitle to OUR own opinions not we all must agree to love star wars or even enjoy batuu which plenty do! To each his own!
What makes you think this is the last time we will see these characters on the big screen? They said that about Star Wars original series. And Potter (where there is now talks about stars reprieving their roles for the Harry Potter at 40 story line).
Being an original fan from the beginning, personally I loved it and thought it fit perfectly with the message Lucas has sought to deliver all along. It came full circle. Sad to see it end.
Disney would do well to dispense with some of the slap-sticky humor. It’s starting to become too similar to the low quality, anything-for-a-laugh scripting seen in those kiddy-tween shows on the Disney channel and Nickelodeon.
I enjoyed the movie n for some I don’t that Irma filled in as much of the gaps as they wished but for me it was very good n did close the chapter very well . Thank you all for your hard work
Planning to see the movie during the holiday week but I have to say no matter what the ending is I can hardly get my boxers in a bunch about a movie. I just don’t understand what all the angst is about! It seems like no matter what happens in a Star Wars movie there are people who are going to complain because they are just Disney haters. Note to SW dorks…get a life!
“Respect for the fans…”
And the script was in Reddit since February.
And… Burguer King made a promo with those leaks, wich turn out to be true!
Nothing more to say.
Tros is a heartless, disgraceful and absurd movie. You killed the most popular and interesting character of ST cause you want to sell your agenda.
And It was you, Bob Iger, the one that drop Rian under the bus. And people responded with a spontaneously hashtag in his favor. What a difference! You need to pay for others hashtags.
Good job
I consider myself a pretty hardcore SW fan – and I find Diesney’s trilogy to be utter trash.
I went to see Last Jedi with a young boy and he nearly cried from boredom. It was a punishing experience for both of us. And we haven’t even considered seeing Rise of Skywalker because of it.
