A rare opportunity to see the Sowden House (Griffin Park, CA) materializes the weekend of Friday the 13th. Haunted OC offers the “Walt Disney Haunted Estate Tour, but only for a limited time.
Right now, the hour-long tours sold out for Friday, September 13. Luckily, four more opportunities remain for the next day.
Just up the hill from Disney’s Hyperion studio location, Walt Disney’s 1932 Estate hosted the family from 1932 to 1950. It is believed that the home inspired the look of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. This Tudor/French Normandy structure boasts 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, a swimming pool, and gym. Of course, there’s also a screening room. Allegedly, the former Disney home is also haunted.
About the Walt Disney Haunted Estate Tour
Disney fans have a rare opportunity this September. Next weekend, Walt Disney’s former Los Feliz (Los Angeles, CA) “mini-castle” welcomes a limited number of visitors. This hour-long event starts in the same screening room where Walt would review studio work. From there, a thirty-minute tour of the estate. In addition to learning about life in the Disney family home, ghost stories (associated with the home), photo ops and refreshments make this a memorable experience.
“This is a rare and sought after opportunity to set foot in the beautifully preserved estate of one of the most celebrated men in entertainment history. The iconic 12-room estate combines elements of Tudor and French Normandy styles and includes four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a screening room, a gym room with sleeping porch, and a pool and pool house, among other details.” – Haunted O.C.
Unfortunately, Friday the 13th tours of this magical estate sold out. Fortunately, Haunted O.C., the tour organizer, added four more opportunities for Saturday, September 14.
