Today was the big day for Disney parks fans with the Sneak Peek! Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products panel. The head of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, Bob Chapek, was the host of this panel, and we got a ton of news from it. The Star Wars hotel had remained a mystery until the start of D23, and we only got a tease earlier in the week.

We know the hotel would be a much smaller almost boutique type of hotel. A stark contrast to the sprawling Disney resorts we have come to know, love and expect from Disney. But don’t let the size fool you, in the words of Master Yoda, “judge me by size do you?”

The experience inside the hotel will be completely immersive. Think of it as a Galaxy’s Edge you are living in.

The experience starts in a launch pod that blasts you into space, where you see the star cruiser and connect to the Halcyon. Every window has a view into space, even the ones in your room. You will have your adventure with familiar and new characters. Not everything will go to plan. The choices you make will determine how the story unfolds (sound familiar). Also, there will be plenty of Star Wars-themed activities. For the first time, guests will be able to fight in a training remote – like Luke Skywalker in A New Hope. You can go to the bridge, learn about navigation and defense, and maybe use them yourself. There are “hidden” areas on the ship with secrets characters and missions. Batuu will be a “port” day during your experience.

According to pricing rumors and news shared by Polygon after D23 Expo, a cabin that sleeps five stars at around $3,300. We have yet to hear Disney formally announce this price, but we’re interested in learn more about exactly how much a two-night vacation could cost. Still, considering how much you’re getting for this immersive experience, that might not be a bad deal. Disney has yet to share the exact opening date, but we’ll update you when they do.

I am very excited to see this resort for myself once it finally opens. I can not wait to not only be in Star Wars but SLEEP in Star Wars. Stay tuned from more coverage of D23 right here on Inside The Magic.
