Today Disney released a fun 30-second spot with the Genie played by Will Smith teaching Aladdin how to make a wish.
The classic make-a-wish sequence outlines the basics, you get three wishes and you must begin by first rubbing the lamp and saying “I wish.” A tentative and confused Aladdin responds with “think so” which kicks off everyone’s favorite Aladdin tune ‘Friend like me.’ We get all of the classic disclaimers, such as there is no way to make someone love another person or bring back anyone from the dead.
The trailer shows some really cool scenes of Agrabah as well as Aladdin and Jasmine flying around on the magic carpet also a quick glimpse of Prince Ali. If you aren’t excited about the new movie and this trailer doesn’t do the trick nothing will. Listening to “Friend Like Me” playing throughout the trailer is a surefire way to rekindle fond memories of the original movie while at the same time showcasing the style of the new movie.
Check out the trailer for yourself.
Tickets for the movie are also going on sale starting today. Especially for those of you who live hot movie markets like this one that saw a crazy response to the Avengers: Endgame ticket pre-sale with someone paying $15,000 you might want to get your tickets ASAP. Of course, there is no indication that pre-sale demand will be even remotely close to the level of the runaway success of Avengers: Endgame but guaranteeing your seat and paying face value is more than enough incentive to buy your tickets now.
In addition to the new trailer, Disney, Will Smith, and Make-A-Wish have launched the #FriendLikeMe Challenge. Make-A-Wish and this trailer go well together so its only natural to see this partnership with Will Smith encouraging fans and celebrities to participate in the challenge and help show the world: Where there’s a wish, there’s a way.
See the message from Will Smith below.
To take part in this exciting and worthwhile challenge, all you have to do is tag a friend on Twitter and or Instagram with #FriendLikeMe from April 29 through May 24, 2019, Disney will donate $5 up to $1 million to Make-A-Wish to help grant life-changing wishes to children battling critical illnesses all over the world.
