Disneyland Resort offers year-round magic to guests of all ages, and early 2019 will bring plenty of amazing experiences. We can’t imagine not booking a trip to Disneyland Resort for 2019 because of all the festive offerings and new entertainment the resort has in store for us. Keep reading to find out why you should plan a trip to visit Disneyland sooner, rather than later.
Back-to-back festivals
Disneyland Resort recently announced the return of two amazing festivals to Disney California Adventure theme park. Beginning January 25, the Lunar New Year will commemorate the Year of the Pig in a celebration filled with multicultural performances, delicious Asian-inspired foods, and even a parade themed after Mulan, our favorite heroine. The festival runs through February 17, so be sure to catch all of the festivities before it ends.
Just two weeks after Lunar New Year ends in 2019, the Food & Wine Festival will begin! From March 1 through April 23, guests can feast on California-inspired cuisine, enjoy live entertainment, and even view cooking demonstrations and seminars. We love seeing Disney California Adventure expand Food & Wine Festival every year, and 2019’s will be better than ever before.
Celebrate Mickey and Minnie
An all-new celebration of your favorite Disney duo will begin in early 2019, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store. Beginning January 18, 2019, Disneyland will host Get Your Ears On — A Mickey and Minnie Celebration, complete with a new nighttime projection show, a celebratory version of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, and exclusive Mickey and Minnie commemorative merchandise.
If you’d like to visit Disneyland during these Mickey and Minnie celebrations, we suggest planning a trip for early February so you can experience Valentine’s Month (and Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure!). From January 22 through February 18, 2019, you can celebrate Disney’s original sweethearts during Valentine’s Month, when the park will feature Valentine’s-themed décor, photo spots, and merchandise.
Disneyland After Dark
We love spending time in the Disney theme parks without the overwhelming hustle and bustle that busy seasons can bring. Disneyland After Dark is the perfect way to experience Disneyland Resort with limited crowds. And best of all: these special events are themed!
On February 7, dress to the nines to celebrate Valentine’s Day one week early at Disneyland’s Sweethearts’ Night. This is an amazing event for couples because of the romantic atmosphere, but you can also visit with your friends and embrace the low wait times and amazing character experiences.
Disneyland also announced another after-dark event: 90s Nite! On March 7, guests are invited to don their best 90s attire and take a trip down memory lane on Main Street at 90s Nite, an evening filled with retro Disney experiences. Check out our post all about these special events and ticket prices.
Discounted room and ticket rates
If you’re not already convinced to visit Disneyland in early 2019, keep reading: Disneyland is offering discounted ticket and room rates during the early months of the year. This limited-time offer will allow you to save on 3-, 4-, and 5-day park tickets when you visit Disneyland Resort during most days through January 7 through May 23, 2019.Â
Additionally, you can save on Disneyland Resort-owned hotel stays during early 2019. From January 6 through April 11, 2019, you can save up to 25% off select rooms at on-property hotels. How amazing is that? Be sure to check out our post for more information on this offer.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge may not be opening until summer, but we’re so excited that we had to include it in this post. If you’re able to plan a couple of trips to Disneyland Resort next year, we highly suggest you do so. Galaxy’s Edge will be one of the most epic openings Disneyland Resort has ever seen, and you’re not going to want to miss out on all the new experiences the immersive land will bring to Disneyland park. Keep checking Inside the Magic for more updates, including the official opening date of Star Wars: Galaxy’s edge this summer.
