Disney’s live-action remake of their animated classic “The Jungle Book” turned heads in 2016. This year, we will see another retelling of the time-honored story, this time from the mind of Andy Serkis.

Serkis will direct and star in the live-action film “Mowgli,” which will put a dark and gritty twist on the beloved tale. The first trailer for the new film was released today and it gives a taste of what the man-cub will have to overcome.

Serkis will voice the lovable Baloo in this new film and will be joined by Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, Christian Bale as Baloo and Rohan Chand as Mowgli. “Mowgli” is not a Disney movie, but is instead a production of Warner Brothers Pictures.

You can relive “The Jungle Book” once again when “Mowgli” roars into theaters October 19.

  1. Don’t you think that would be to scary for children?

  2. Gotta be Darker, Grittier, Grimmer. While I’ll admit that the Disney versions aren’t too close to the book, it looks like they’re getting -more- divergent, not less, to me. Just from the trailer this looks like it’s going to be a tiresome crawl (and their cgi wolves are terrible…)
