“Wizard of Oz”-themed train ride experience arrives in Central Florida this summer

The classic masterpiece “The Wizard of Oz” was released just under 80 years ago and still has a place in the hearts of many movie fans. L. Frank Baum’s story about Dorothy, Toto, the Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man is so beloved that “Oz”-themed experiences are popular even today.

One such event is a themed two hour train ride to Emerald City. Along with Dorothy and company, guests encounter the Wicked Witch, Good Fairy and more as the story unfolds in front of passengers. Now, that enchanting event is available for a limited time in the theme park capital of America: Central Florida.

The Royal Palm Railway Experience (Orlando & Northwestern Railway LLC) is offering the ultimate summer event during the month of June. The Wizard of Oz Train Ride is a two-hour adventure of oz-standing caliber.

“Licensed by the same team that brought you THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride, this magical journey will retell the story of the beloved film on board a real train at select heritage railroads across the United States.

Guests will board the train with DOROTHY™ and her special friends as they travel down the Yellow Brick Road. Help them defeat the WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST™ before arriving at the Emerald City and experiencing the thrill of meeting THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ™ himself during a live stage show!

The trip will begin in Tavares, Florida, with the boarding location Wooten Park.  The show begins in Munchkinland where you will meet the beloved characters in this classic story. You will then board The Emerald City Special and travel to the Emerald City as the adventure of this classic tale unfolds.” -Royal Palm Railway website
