Funny things can happen on social media. A perfect example of this would be a recent conversation between “Star Wars” star Mark Hamill and “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn on Twitter.

It all started when a fan proposed the idea of Gunn finding a role for Hamill in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” Gunn, who tends to be fairly active on social media, responded to both the fan and Hamill.

Hamill responded, joking that he is currently unemployed and would love to meet with Gunn. The director agreed and the two decided to continue the conversation in direct messages.

Josh Gad, who has starred in several Disney films but has not yet appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, got in on the conversation with a simple GIF response.

Robert Kirkman, creator of “The Walking Dead,” threw his two cents into the conversation as well, joking that he wants to join Gunn and Hamill in Malibu.

No word yet on whether or not Gunn and Hamill have met to discuss the potential role. We’ll just have to wait and see if Hamill will be joining Rocket and Groot in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.”
