It’s just a week and a half away. After a full two years of anticipation for the direct follow-up to Lucasfilm’s mega-hit movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” took place in an earlier era of the story), fans will finally have the chance to witness the new entry in the ongoing Star Wars saga for themselves. And all indications are that it will have been worth the wait.
This past weekend in Los Angeles, the cast of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”— including Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), John Boyega (Finn), and of course Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) came together with director Rian Johnson (“Looper”) for one final big promotional push. The team took the stage along with several more costars for a big press conference on Sunday, addressing the media’s questions as carefully as they could without giving too much away.

Also at the press junket, the media were given the opportunity to interact with new First Order droid BB-9E and Snoke’s Elite Praetorian Guards, plus get an up-close-and-personal look at the screen-used costumes for Luke, Leia (worn by the late Carrie Fisher), Rey, and Kylo Ren.

Star Wars collectors be on your guard, because a new movie once again means hundreds of new officially-licensed items available. Everything from a Darth Vader vacuum cleaner to “The Last Jedi” LEGO sets to a giant human-sized Porg were all on display at the event.

As fans have come to understand, “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson is fond of snapping photographs throughout production on whatever film he happens to be helming. Some of the neatest-looking selections from his Star Wars still work were mounted on the wall for the media to peruse.

Finally, Disney took it upon itself to use this press junket as another venue to promote its upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park expansions coming to both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World in 2019.
