Sony developing a new Spider-Man spinoff movie based on Morbius the Living Vampire

Sony may have loaned Spider-Man out to Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, but they still have big plans for the web head and his massive cast of characters. In fact, the studio has announced they are developing a film based on Morbius the Living Vampire.

Marvel Comics‘ Morbius is an anti-hero that has tangled with Spider-Man on several occasions throughout his long history. Dr. Michael Morbius attempted to cure his rare blood disease and instead transformed himself into a vampire-like monster.

The script for the film was written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who recently wrote the 2017 “Power Rangers” film. The duo also recently handled a vampire-driven story with Universal’s “Dracula Untold” in 2014.

“Morbius” will join Sony’s Tom Hardy-led “Venom” as the studio attempts to build a once again rebooted Spider-Man universe.

There is no word yet on when we can expect to see “Morbius” nor who we can expect to see playing Marvel’s vampiric anti-hero.
