A Halloween Must-See: Phantasmagoria returns to Orlando this October with “The Chains of Fire”

in Entertainment, Theater

The highly acclaimed and delightfully dark Phantasmagoria returns to the stage this month in Orlando FL, for an eighth spooky season.

Renowned for their unique engaging and evocative storytelling techniques, this whimsical wonder is one not to be missed.  Regardless if you coming to Orlando to enjoy the spooky boo events or if you live nearby, Phantasmagoria is possibly the perfect Halloween tradition.

Macabre music, creepy cool choreography and spectacular stage combat combine to give Phantasmagoria’s skillful storytelling style a chilling and fiendishly fun thrill that is unlike any other. The works of Edgar Allan Poe, HG Wells, Lord Byron and many more are brilliantly brought to life with the troupe’s talented, immersive theater experience.

Initially intended as a one season of spooky set of storytelling in 2010, Phantasmagoria is now entering its eighth eerie and exciting installment.  While the troupe’s tales include an overall story arc tying each season together with the enchantment evolving with each season’s performances, Phantasmagoria’s performances are a riveting and edgy experience easily enjoyed as a stand-alone engagement (though once you’ve seen one season’s show, you’re going to want to –and should – return for more).

For 2017, “The Chains of Fire,” the excitement emerges on Friday the 13th of October.  Performances prevail weekends through November 4th with additional shows on Monday and Tuesday the last week of the month for Halloween (see their website for exact show dates).  A VIP preshow (with a special “take home surprise”) is available as an upgrade on Friday and Saturday nights and Halloween night.

“With the ongoing critically acclaimed success of the past seven year’s installments – as well as special events and appearances throughout the year– the brand new PHANTASMAGORIA VIII thunders on to the Mandell Stage at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center with all new stories of terror!  Live performers, “Phantastical” dance, explosive stage combat, large scale puppetry, aerial performance and haunting storytelling combine to create a tapestry of macabre and whimsical horror!

Join Phantasmagoria’s evocative troupe of storytellers, dancers, and chorus as they embark on their newest and perhaps darkest journeys yet through literary tales of terror, and horrific folk stories, legends, and myths. Enter with us into dark tales from the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, HG Wells, Robert Browning, Lord Byron, Charlotte Perkins Gilman among many others – all to set the tone for a truly Phantasmagorical Halloween season!

This year Phantasmagoria also shakes up our Special VIP Experience!  The VIP show will occur BEFORE the main stage show on select nights only (Fri/Sat nights and Halloween) as we introduce our “Phantasticaly Phantabulous Sideshow Extravaganza!” Specialty acts, special guests, and appearances by members of the Phantasmagoria troupe weave together to start the evening off in the best and darkest of ways! This year all VIP seating can be RESERVED (for the first time) upon coming to the door to ensure prime seating for all our VIP guests. At the end of the show, the VIP audience member will also be treated to a final encore especially designed for them! VIP also includes a glass of wine or soft drink, a take home gift and more!” -Phantasmagoria Press Release
