Dia de los Muertos is expanding at Disneyland Resort this year.
Starting on September 15, a new immersive seasonal experience begins at Disney’s California Adventure. The celebration includes dancers, musicians, interactive activities, special decor, and food inspired by the Mexican celebration of family.
A special themed experience based on Disney-Pixar’s upcoming film “Coco” is also included in the celebration.
While the initial celebration ends on November 2, select elements will move into “a bug’s land” starting on November 5. Those elements will be featured alongside a special sneak peek of “Coco” and can be viewed until January 7, 2018.
California Adventure’s celebration joins the festivities taking place in Frontierland across the way in Disneyland. Beginning in September, Zocalo Park will feature a musical trio of skeleton figurines called “calacas,” along with brightly colored flowers and other decorations celebrating Dia de los Muertos.
“Coco” arrives in theaters on November 22, 2017.
