“Star Wars” concert series combines live New York Philharmonic performances with film screenings

Star Wars” fans in and around New York City have a special opportunity to hear the scores of “A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back,” “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens” played live during screenings of each film.

The New York Philharmonic is hosting a Film Concert Series starting September 15. The concert series takes place at David Geffen Hall, and it’s billed as the first-ever live performance of the score along with the movies.

The concert schedule is as follows:

  • A New Hope: September 15 – 16 at 8:00PM
  • The Empire Strikes Back: September 26 – 28 at 7:30PM
  • Return of the Jedi: October 4 – 5 at 7:30PM
  • The Force Awakens: October 6 – 7 at 8:00PM

The orchestra will be led by David Newman, an accomplished creator of film scores who has worked on “Matilda,” “Ice Age” and “Anastasia,” to name a few.

A limited number of tickets are available to purchase at the New York Philharmonic website. Ticket prices begin at $65 each.
