The Merc with the Mouth is back! Production has begun “Deadpool 2,” the sequel to 2016’s smash hit action/comedy “Deadpool” from 20th Century Fox and Marvel Comics.
The movies follow disfigured mercenary Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds of “Green Lantern”), an artificially-created mutant with an accelerated healing factor and advanced physical prowess. The sequel is a no-brainer for Fox, after the first movie performed surprisingly well for an R-rated superhero film, ushering in another new age for the genre.
Last night Reynolds shared the first image from the set of “Deadpool 2” via his Instagram account: a photo of the production clapboard slate with the familiar “Deadpool” heart-hands symbol. New director David Leitch (who replaced Tim Miller after he departed over creative differences) is represented on the slate.
“Deadpool 2” is currently scheduled to be released on June 1st, 2018.
