This could be an excellent opportunity to live in historic home with spectacular views that is not far from Edinburgh, Galloway and the English border. If you have the skills and experience to be a nanny to two children and are not fazed by things that go bump in the night, one Scottish family just might need your services.
No, this is not the plot of Doctor Who episode or casting call for a new reality show, but rather the plea from a family who has already had five nannies unnerved by the strange, supposedly supernatural events in their historic home.
“We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years. We were told it was ‘haunted’ when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless. 5 nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving. This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children. We haven’t personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we’ve been out of the house, but we’re happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it’s important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person.”
The right person could earn a 50,000 pound per year salary (approximately $64,000) complete with weekends and bank holidays off, along with an additional 28 days of vacation time. A private room and bath as well as private kitchen are included.
In exchange you would be caring for their five year old and seven year old child. Because of work requirement, the parents could be gone up to four days at a time, leaving you in charge. Typical responsibilities include readying the two for school, taking them to and from school, helping with homework and tucking them in at night.
