The British Broadcasting Corporation is taking H.G. Wells’ sci-fi classic, “The War of the Worlds,” and bringing it to life on our televisions.
The difference between this adaptation and ones that we have seen in the past, will be the time and place in which it is set. The series, like the original novel, will be based in England and will take place in the Victorian era.
That will make for a very different experience from the 2005 film that starred Tom Cruise and was set in modern day New York:
BBC’s adaptation will be written by Peter Hartness, who is perhaps best known for writing several episodes of “Doctor Who.” The show is currently set to go into production next spring.
