Beat the summer heat on the cheap at an authentic, old-fashioned Florida swimmin’ hole

No elaborate water slides, no fancy menus, and definitely no high entry fees.

Bob’s River Place on Florida’s historic Suwannee River simply offers old fashioned Floridian family fun.

Reminiscent of simpler times, this warm weather cure is located in Branford, near the bend of Florida’s west coast.  This private swimming hole is one of Florida’s best kept secrets.  For the past 40 years, owner Bob Hawkins opens his water wonderland to guests on weekends for $25 a carload (of up to six people).  All of the activities (including Karaoke) are included.

While there, visitors can enjoy rope swings, simple water slides, floating sunbathing rafts, platforms for jumping, log rolling, water or land volleyball and other activities.  There’s even an area with picnic tables and barbecue tables.   These family friendly festivities are open to the public on weekends beginning mid-April – a perfect way to cope with the annoying heat and humidity that overtakes Florida this time of year. After Memorial Day the swimming hole is open daily.
