SeaWorld San Diego is continuing its monumental efforts to expand and add to its list of attractions, with several new experiences opening this summer: Ocean Explorer, Orca Encounter, and Electric Ocean. Let’s take a look at each as the season approaches.

Ocean Explorer

A whole new area in SeaWorld coming this summer, combining “multiple aquariums, exciting rides and digital technologies designed to engage park guests in an experience centered on exploration and adventure.” Included will be a new signature track-based ride called Submarine Quest which incorporates a digital navigation dashboard.

The Ocean Explorer zone is built around a series of specially-designed aquariums and interactive displays that showcase “unique and elusive ocean animals like giant octopuses and dozens of moray eels, and Japanese spider crabs and spiny king crabs.”

Orca Encounter

SeaWorld San Diego’s main orca pool is getting a theming overhaul– “a natural rugged coastline setting complete with towering pines and picturesque waterfalls,” reflecting the natural world of killer whales. A 140-foot wide video screen will provide guests with fascinating facts, graphics and information about the whales as they encounter the imposing beasts.

Electric Ocean

A new nighttime entertainment celebration will light up one section of the park with neon bio-luminescence, a dance club, and pathway entertainment. Plus, a fully-interactive exhibit of microscopic algae will illuminate a sea of wonder.
