In case you missed it, Dwayne Johnson is set to star in a movie adaptation of the 1980s video game “Rampage.” The game revolved around three people who were transformed into giant monsters, including an ape named George, a wolf named Ralph, and a lizard named Lizzie.
How will this game become a movie, you ask? Plot details were revealed this week:
The first privately owned space station is destroyed by a mysterious experiment done onboard. Three canisters from the crash land on Earth. One lands in the gorilla enclosure at the San Diego Zoo, the other in the plains of Wyoming and the last one in the Florida Everglades. The Griffin Technologies Group, headed by two siblings (Malin Akerman and Jake Lacy), tries to destroy any evidence of wrongdoing before the government finds out.
Obviously, they’re too late to stop the canisters from infecting the ape, lizard, and wolf, and they start growing into monsters. Griffin Technologies decides to lure the monsters to their offices in Chicago using a beacon.
Dwayne Johnson will be playing an ex-marine who is now a primatologist at the San Diego Zoo. He taught George sign language and shares a special bond with the ape, so expect to see him using that bond to try and save the day.
“Rampage” is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2018.
