LEGOLAND Florida Resort has announced today that their new LEGOLAND Beach Retreat Resort currently under construction near their theme park in Winter Haven, FL will officially open its doors April 7, 2017.
With 83 radical beach-themed bungalows that have two rooms each, the 166 total rooms (which can sleep up to five) will more than double the accommodations currently being offered at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort. With bunk beds, LEGO-theming and much more, the bungalows are grouped into 13 coves all centered around a giant 45-feet-tall LEGO lighthouse with an actual rotating beacon and a heated swimming pool. Each of the coves will offer an outdoor play area for the kids in front of the bungalows, which will also offer a beautiful view of nearby Lake Dexter.
Inside the lighthouse, Sandy’s Castle Restaurant will offer up breakfast, which will be complimentary for all resort guests, with lunch and dinner available for walk-ups. Bricks Beach Bar will also have some delicious food and snack options along with a full compliment of beverages for kids and adults that will be served up both inside and outside the Lighthouse; perfect for enjoying by the pool. The Palm Tree Traders gift shop, also located inside the Lighthouse, will be stocked with the latest and greatest LEGO kits, apparel, swimwear and more.
The pool will also feature a large sandy play area for the kids, according to David Brady, Senior Public Relations Manager at LEGOLAND Florida, and cabanas that will be available to rent as well as the poolside food and beverage service courtesy of Bricks Beach Bar. There will also be multiple poolside activities throughout the day.
“It’s really about enjoying the sunshine and coming down here at any time of the year and having that perfect summer vacation experience,” said Brady. “One of the things we tried to do consciously in coming up with LEGOLAND Beach Retreat was we knew that inevitably it would be compared to the hotel so we wanted to make sure that in many, many different ways it was a different experience. So we really perceive LEGOLAND Beach Retreat as all about fun in the sun.”
A select group of local media were treated to a tour of the construction area where the bungalows have been erected as well as a tour inside the Lighthouse and the pool area. The rooms have about the same size and general layout as the rooms in the nearby hotel located next to the park entrance but with a sunny vibe to it.
