If we ever needed incentive to follow Alice down the rabbit hole, there’s a bar in Chicago’s Old Town that has the perfect enticements. The Rabbit Hole opened this September with exciting “eat me” cuisine like the Queen of Hearts salad or Jabberwocky Angus Sliders and “drink me” adult libations from craft beer to Mad Hatter margaritas.
The Rabbit hole is a “whimsical yet gritty” Alice in Wonderland-themed restaurant open seven days a week, including brunch on the weekends. The mouthwatering menu is enough to make Lewis Carroll rewrite his classic novels to include these delightful delicacies (wouldn’t want to be late for the Candied Slab Bacon featuring thick cut, Applewood smoked slab bacon, grilled and glazed with maple syrup).
To complement the cuisine, or accompany the viewing of any big sports game, The Rabbit Hole offers a vast selection of craft and draft beers including 24 beer taps and a host of canned and bottled brews. Inspired by characters in the fantasy movie, the cocktail menu by beverage director Carlos Guerra features drinks with memorable monikers like the smoky White Rabbit on a Dirty Mule with Mezcal, ginger beer, lime juice, Jägermeister, and grapefruit juice, or the delicate yet complex Tweedle Rum with rum, rye, coffee vermouth, coconut, Fernet Dogma and cinnamon, to name just two. “At The Rabbit Hole, we’re developing an ever-evolving beverage program, so there’s always something unique, original and new on the menu for guests to experience,” says beverage director Carlos Guerra. –The Rabbit Hole Facebook page
