Gotta love Japan!
In one of the weirdest and most hilarious bouts of marketing for the film Sadako vs. Kayako, the horror icons faced off on, of all places, a baseball field to pitch the first ball at a Japanese game.
Check out the full video here — I dare you not to laugh:
The crossover film will drop into Japanese theaters in July, and the plot is pretty much what you would expect from something like this:
After watching a cursed videotape together with her friend in a haunted house, Yūri Kurahashi becomes trapped in a conflict between two murderous ghosts: Sadako Yamamura and Kayako Saeki.
Each of the two ghosts had their own creepy entrances, and the fans were easily pleased. Cheerleaders scattered and screamed as Sadako crawled through the TV and out into the baseball field, donning a catcher’s mit and ball, while Kayako hobbled onto the field with a baseball bat. Sadako winds up the pitch, Kayako hits the ball, and her little Japanese boy ghost (whose name escapes me at the moment) runs around the bases in her stead. The two then proceed to hobble and collapse all over the field. It’s pure gold.
