Donny Dirk’s Zombie Den – a safe haven from the zombie apocalypse in Minneapolis MN

in Food, Haunted Attractions

Off Interstate 94 on North Second Street in Minneapolis, there is an small establishment that is both a cocktail lounge and a dive bar.  They don’t really serve food and only have room for about 50 patrons.  What makes this quite a unique place to enjoy an adult beverage is that it is also a self-described safe haven from Zombie Apocalypse.

Zombies are attracted to brains and Minneapolis has a lot of good ones, therefore they are frequently meandering towards this town. However in Minneapolis for 5 months of the year it’s cold enough to keep the undead firmly below ground, therefore we only have a seasonal zombie problem. The zombies amble on over and/or escape the frozen ground every summer in search of the best brains…and well…who can blame them. So, that is why there must be a safe haven for the big brained humans in the warmer months. It’s called Donny Dirk’s . . .  Donny Dirk’s Zombie Den Website

The lounge is adorned with chainsaws (in case of emergency), a few trophies, and more tiger skin carpet than should be allowed by law.  Bar tenders resemble characters from Shaun of the Dead and are more than ready to serve “quality beer, house made infusions and cocktails made with fresh produce”.
