In the wake of the horrendous mass shooting at local gay club Pulse in Orlando, the city and its inhabitants have come together in support like never before. Many different charities and vigils have been held throughout the city and now the biggest industry in Orlando has decided to do their part.
“Dine Out for Orlando United” is a fundraiser led by the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association in partnership with VISIT FLORIDA and will be a day for Florida restaurants, their employees and guests to make a difference in the lives of those affected by the Pulse tragedy. All proceeds raised will be donated to the OneOrlando Fund, which is designed to provide a way to respond to the needs of the local community, now and in the time to come.
There are many different ways to participate:
Guests: Dine at a participating restaurant on June 30, and/or choose to make direct donations.
Employees: Work a shift on June 30, choose to volunteer your time, or donate a portion of your tips.
Businesses: Join Dine Out for Orlando United and raise funds. This can include helping to promote, organize and/or donate.
Restaurants can participate that day by:
– Donating a portion of total sales
– Making a donation for every guest served
– Collecting donations received from guests and staff
– Donating a portion of total profits
– Making a donation for every sales of a specific item
– Identifying a set donation amount that’s right for you.
So far these are the participating restaurants but more will be coming soon so make sure you check back on their official site regularly:
