Riders on SeaWorld Orlando’s Mako hypercoaster grip their restraints with faces lit up in excitement and surprise, soaring high above the park and racing through dramatic twists and turns inspired by the speed of a mako shark.

SeaWorld Orlando’s new hypercoaster, Mako, is a monster.

It has no loops, but it has some serious airtime, speeds up to 72mph, and a massive 200 foot drop. I don’t consider myself the type to be “scared” of a roller coaster, but one trip on Mako made me a believer. It’s a doozy.

I had the chance to team up with our friends at ThrillGeek and Orlando Informer for a POV ride of the coaster — only we gave it a little twist. We challenged ourselves (well, Max) to deliver five facts on the Mako shark while riding the insane new coaster. The result: insanity.
