VIDEO: Johnny Depp surprises Disneyland guests dressed as the Mad Hatter

in Disney, Disneyland Resort, Movies, Theme Parks

Johnny Depp never says no to a funny skit so it comes as no surprise to see him pull off this stunt at the Disneyland Resort.

Dressed as his iconic character the Mad Hatter, from the upcoming sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass, he decided to surprise the park’s guests, giving them quite the shock. Wearing a full face of makeup, the famous actor interacted with Disneyland visitors as a living movie poster.

Alice Through the Looking Glass arrives in theaters May 27.

  1. This looks like so much fun, wish I was there to see this!!! There are so many Alice in Wonderland themed secrets in Disneyland, and Depp’s secret appearance temporarily added one more. One of my favorite of these secrets is about the Mad Hatter’s famous hat, seen at attractions and shops throughout Disneyland as well as in books and movies. The iconic “10/6” tag on the hat actually has a meaning, it’s the hat’s price in Old English, ten shillings & six pence. (There are 20 shillings in a GBP and 12 pence per shilling.) That was a lot of money back then (though it’s only about 80¢ today), and the Mad Hatter was so vain that he left the price tag on his hat so everyone could see how much he paid for it. And that is why you see that iconic “10/6” tag every time you see the Mad Hatter. – John Glass (author, 100 Things You Don’t Want to Miss at Disneyland 2016 ; )
