It’s time to break out the chimichangas, because Deadpool is now officially the fastest selling superhero title available on Digital HD!
Sources report that the film sold 1 million units in its first week, making it Fox’s best-performing Digital HD title in history, as well as the fastest Digital title to reach 1 million units — and they thought the concept wouldn’t sell. Psh.
“The consumer response to Deadpool has been unprecedented in theaters and now at home,” said Mary Daily, president and chief marketing officer of worldwide marketing for 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. “In just one week, Digital HD transactions are reaching superhero levels.”
Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller, with a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams. It releases on Blu-ray and DVD on May 10.
