The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the premium cable network, Starz, has acquired the television rights to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
This will be the last film to be included in Starz’s deal with Disney. This pact included rights to every movie to be released through the end of 2015. The deal was not renewed, as the company decided to arrange an agreement with the popular streaming service, Netflix.
Financial terms of the Force Awakens pact were not immediately available. The news was first reported by the New York Post. Starz declined comment on the deal.
Disney controls rights to the film after the Starz window closes and will determine its future then.
