They’re a threat in the world we live in today, unfortunately. While inconvenient, be glad that the parks are doing everything they can to try to keep us (and our kids) safe.
I was at WDW the 10th through the 14th and never got such message or went through any metal detectors? We stayed at Art of Animation and went to the 4 major parks as well as Disney Springs, if that helps.
I completely understand metal detectors despite inconvenience and I understand not selling toy guns. But not letting adults wear costumes is too far. Lot’s of families look forward to participating in these events together especially since adults can’t wear costumes to the park unless during special times. I could understand stricter guidelines for costumes but just not allowing it at all is really a bummer and takes the magic out of the event for everyone. I really hope Disney changes their mind about this, I don’t think I could see myself buying a ticket to Not-So-Scary without being able to interact with characters in costume, it’s always the highlight of my year as silly as it sounds.
wow so much for freedom in this country. government rules our lives. and people are okay with that? makes no sense. i guess people are cowards to stand up to the government. i guess fear wins here.
Dear President of Universal (and Disney, and Busch),
We felt perfectly safe in your parks BEFORE the metal detectors were put in place. They are unnecessary and unreasonable, and I think they actually contribute to a climate of fear. They do not assuage it.
I am going to WDW this year and I am so glad Disney are thinking of our saftey, I know people are disappointed about the new rules about no costumes ect , but isnt this a small price to pay people need to wake up this is the world we live in now you can’t bury your head in the sand.
Really disappointed about the costumes. If we are going through metal detectors, why would our costumes pose a threat?
They are taking away from an amazing event, that families can participate in together. So many families all dress up as a whole cast of a movie. The Incredibles, Toy Story, etc. Snow White and the Evil Queen. It is my favorite event at Disney. I am not sure I would participate anymore if this is the case. It is really a shame, and I hope they change their mind.
Once inside the park I felt somewhat safe. Frankly I think the security screening should start at the parking lot prior to where the massive crowds begin, say like the ferry boat? If we feel like the security screening is unnecessary what about screening before you get on an airplane?
They way people are screened prior to boarding an airplane, treated like potential criminals, with the x-rays and groping, is also unnecessary and does nothing to keep us safe. Total security theater.
I am against the metal detectors in the parks. I don’t think they will help keep us safe. Now a ban on costumes is a good idea. Every year at the MNSSHP I see threatening and dangerous costumes worn by 16 and 17 year olds. So many unsafe Ariel and Snow White costumes could kill or injure many! I saw so many pirate costumes that could easily hide a bomb or weapons that a metal detector would not find. Next year my wife was planning on wearing a Madonna breast plate that I’m sure could poke someones’s eyes out. Thank god for this smart and reasonable new rule, After all wearing customes doesn’t make the park any more fun.

I cannot believe they are banning adult costumes at the Halloween party. More security, fine. But my family always dresses up. And with this ban, I really won’t book again for next year. It’s the only time adults get to play like a child. I seriously hope they reverse that rule.

Planning on Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2016. we bought costumes on discount, now useless. Since when are costumes a threat?

I’m not glad. this is awful news. We as a people live in constant fear now. Why even try?

But they don’t need to do it. All this does is contribute to feafulness in this country. It’s security theater and nothing more.

I’m so upset about the Halloween costumes. That’s our favorite time of year to go as a family. We have adult kids and we always dress up.

Yes, aren’t all our freedoms just a small price to pay for fear mongering?

Thank you Jen for staying away from the USA. Please tell all your friends to stay away as well. One way to get the lines at Disney a little shorter.
