Sleeping Beauty Castle surrounded by vibrant pink blossoms and watched over by the iconic Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse Partners statue, all beneath a clear blue sky, welcoming Disneyland fans to unlock year-round magic with the Annual Passport.

News sources in the Anaheim area are reporting that Disneyland and Disney California Adventure has also begun installing metal detectors at the theme park, like Disney World in Orlando.

Universal Studios Hollywood will also begin using metal detectors.

The Orange County Register’s OC Disney Twitter account tweeted this morning that “Guests will walk through bag screening first, and some ‘randomly’ selected visitors may have to walk through a metal detector.”

These changes at the Disneyland Resort were made overnight Thursday, Dec. 17.

Two new rules were also updated on the Disneyland park rules website: guests over the age of 14 will not be allowed to wear costumes and toy guns are now prohibited from the resort, including “toy blasters, squirt guns etc.”
