It will be a Frozen summer yet again at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with the “Frozen Summer Fun” event running between June 17 to September 7. Though much of the events activities will be familiar to you from last year we got enough new and updated happenings to make this years event feel fresh and exciting. With the new meet and greet Olaf finally making an appearance this year he is definitely becoming the star of this year’s “Frozen Summer Fun”.
As soon as you walk into Hollywood Studios you will now notice that it’s the Frozen party that has taken over. Banners, cupcakes and other decor is all over the park and the new Frozen stage is highly visible in front of the Chinese Theater. Unfortunately we did not see the return of Oaken’s Trading Post this year so no more ice-skating or playing in the snow. But we did get some new additions which you can check out below.
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
The Frozen sing-along has first of all moved to a new theater. The Hyperion theater, the old location of the American Idol show, is now host to the comedic, re-enacted story of “Frozen”. The theater offers the blessing of size, both in seats and for the stage. The show itself is pretty much the same as it was before, but feature an updated digital screen and new special effects that really improves on the previous experience. Projection mapping can be seen throughout the show, around the theater, and it really creates some extra magic for the characters and guests alike. Definitely don’t miss taking another look at this updated Frozen Sing-Along show.
Olaf’s Summer Cool Down
This new show, presented out on the Center Stage, is the one that clearly shows off who the star of this event is: Olaf. The new meet and greet character has gotten a more animated face and he puts that and the rest of his moves to good use in this little musical number being shown multiple times per day. In a rendition of his favorite song “In Summer” Olaf, together with some summery dance girls, invites the audience to a rocking summer dance party.
Frozen Fireworks
At the end of every night for this event Hollywood Studios will be the host to the Frozen Fireworks. A combination of a Frozen stage show, Frozen music and pyro this is not to be missed. The stage show for this year is brand new and features, yet again, Olaf as the main character. Last year we only saw his friendly face on a screen, but this year he is actually out on the stage together with Anna, Kristoff and Elsa. The fireworks has also gotten some new pyro design which makes the show feel much grander.
Frozen Fever short
Inside the previous home of the Cinderella live-action sneak peek you can now see the entire Frozen Fever short. The movie has a brief “behind the scenes” look at creating the music for the film before it.
Frozen Royal Welcome
Two times per day you can see the Frozen characters welcome the park guests to the event in a parade down Hollywood Blvd. The parade is pretty much the same as last year, but does feature Queen Elsa on a brand new float.
