Your photos are excellent, I did see the attempt to show folks how easy it is to bypass hub congestion is a bit off (in person it’s probably obvious):
“… if you are walking up Main Street from the entrance, you can now take a right at the Plaza Ice Cream parlor and then your first left, which will take you directly to the bridge to Tomorrowland. ” you need to add in the middle the need to take a right before the second planter or else folk end up back in the hub. Same, but opposite issue for the left side.
Thanks Kim. You are right in that you need to stay to the right after making the left, but it is pretty obvious when you are standing there. You aren’t really “taking a right” as much as just staying on the big pathway. That was a keen observation though. Thanks for reading!
Thanks for a great article on the new hub. As a parent of a young child, I wish that Disney would add a “stroller conveyor” around this area because all the crossovers seem to get packed during parades, etc and pushing a stroller through the area is MADNESS! I look forward to the next visit to see how much this helps!
Ian…..I think Disney agrees with you, because these new walkways make it so much easier for strollers to get through. I think you’ll be impressed on your next visit!
Where are the benches or places to sit? Disneyland was filled with them when I was growing up, especially on Main Street. The castle’s entranceway border even had embedded concrete seating, and was still there the last time I visited.
This month, when I visited WDW, I found nowhere to sit. I also noticed very few grandparents, or anyone that age. (My age.)
After walking over 10 miles visiting Epcot our first day, my feet hurt. I could barely walk after a couple more days.
On our last day, I was asked if I’d fill out an online questionnaire later, to which I agreed. It was strictly check-box. No place for any comments. No place to say WDW isn’t friendly to older people.
Is it my imagination, or has Disney intentionally removed virtually all seating from WDW? Maybe it was never there to begin with. Having places to walk is nice, as long as you can still stand. And if you think I’ll embarrass myself by riding one of those electric scooters, then you have another think coming!
While I’m on the subject of older folks’ issues, why is it so dark? I have no trouble seeing at night, but there were many places in WDW I could barely see the ground. Not to mention how dark Epcot became after 9pm, when virtually everything closed. What’s the point in having extended hours if everything is closed?!!
My grandkids had a fabulous time. But my past dreams of taking them to WDW myself are now long gone.

Otherwise, excellent reporting! Keep it up!

Having this new renovation will make it quick and efficient to get around the park. But I do have to admit, the grass thing is weird!
