Random request: have you ever done a post about how to NOT be terrified in a haunted house? I’m sure some of your calm is simply an aspect of your personality, but perhaps you have other tips? I know it’s silly, but I scare so easily it isn’t fun. I want in on the fun! 😀
That’s funny… I’m not the type who really gets scared in haunted houses either, but my fiancee does, and I kind of envy both of you. Sure, when things suddenly shoot out at me in the dark I get a brief shock, but that’s it. She gets to ride the Haunted Mansion and actually be scared and creeped out. All I get is enjoyment out of the spooky aesthetic experience!
Hah! Fun idea. Generally speaking, it’s something that comes over time. The more haunted houses you walk through, the more you grow accustomed to loud, dark environments with things jumping out at you. After a while, those startles don’t startle anymore. You see them coming a mile away as you learn the tricks of the trade. There’s a balance between being so scared you don’t see anything and being so NOT scared that you’re bored.
While glad you like the event I feel the need to correct you about the scare zones. They are separated into 4 zones. Ghost Town, Carnevi, Fiesta De Los Muertos, and Necropolis. Also most of what you see on the street is improvised, there are no scripts
There are indeed those zones, but to my eyes they all kind of blended together. Other than Ghost Town, I didn’t notice any distinction between the zones other than different characters. The atmosphere wasn’t there.
Hey Ricky!! I am glad you got a chance to go to Knott’s Scary Farm! This is really late, but did you/were you able to film the show Possessed? I would LOVE LOVE to see it! 🙂 Let me know! 🙂
Hi Ricky, very nice review. This year it was my first visit to Knotts and I apreciated very much the Halloween event they produced. I was woundering what you think about Trapped. I built similar concept in Europe sometime ago. I see americans are going more and more to a intense version of mazes and haunted attractions… do you think that will be a tendency in the industry?
I think the extreme haunts are a trend. They’re big now and are likely to continue growing for the next few years. But eventually people will get bored with them and move on to some other new concept. I didn’t try Trapped, unfortunately.
I needed to thank you for this great read!! I certainly enjoyed every little bit of it.
I have got you saved as a favorite to check out new things you
