Removed from the schedule indefinitely is “The Little Mermaid” in 3D after the poor box office results from “Monsters, Inc” in 3D.

  1. I wish all studios would just go ahead and put an end to any further 3D films altogether. The only 3D that’s really any good are the ones on a real IMAX screen or the films that are actually and truly made to be in 3D like Cameron’s Avatar and of course the ones in the parks.

  2. RAT

    Bummer about Little Mermaid.
Back in the day, Disney cartoons would get a theatrical release every seven years or so – so a new generation could experience the movies on the big screen.
My children loved seeing “Monsters Inc” on the big screen recently. While the 3D was a nice added feature, seeing the movie at the cinema is such a more immersive experience than watching it at home.
I was in college and working at a movie theater back when “Mermaid” came out. I must have seen that movie a dozen or more times during its initial run. It’s a shame my kids won’t be able to see what I had the pleasure to.
