Borrowed visuals from Tron and the neon black velvet poster art from the back room of Spencer Gifts! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the new look, but I did have a small middle school at the mall flashback.
Wow. I always has this complaint that TT felt as if it was just plopped into a big building and never felt finished or had the detail of other attractions. While some may complaint that it’s cheesy special effects that has little to do with the story, it looks so immersive that I think it works well.
Seriously? This is worth getting excited about? While other parks are getting amazing attractions and Test Track get’s the black light treatment and people go gaga? Boring.
I can go on about how rather disappointed I am in the execution of the ride, but overall a refresh was kinda necessary and all the new effects are cool. Thanks for the great pictures & video, Ricky!
Also, one pretty big issue: From all that I’ve seen, I noticed that this newer version seems to lack any on-ride photos for you to pick up, which is rather disappointing. Is that really the case? I think having an on-ride photo would make lots of sense being that it’s a lot easier to pick up since you’ve got your RFID tag with you. Hope they can somehow squeeze that back into the ride.
Actually: Is that part after the “What’s your score?” section of the post-show in the green circular room give any on-ride photos of you, or is it just to share your car design with friends?
The green circular room lets you take your car design and create a TV commercial for it, which you can email to yourself. Other areas let you email photos of yourself with your car too.
Thanks for the great video tour. I really hope this is the beginning of a full refurb of Epcot. I am hoping that Disney is going to return Epcot to its former glory of being a fun and informative experience. Epcot is my favorite Disney Park which I fell in live with back in 1985. I miss the wonder and spectacle of the worlds fair feel that the park once had. Goin visitors a glimps of what the future may hold. As it is now Epxot is very dated and feels very Retro. I want the wonder as joy I felt for it whe. I first experienced it so many years ago.
Ughh I like the old version much better….When will disney learn to stop messing with perfection. If its not broken don’t fix it. The old one was a classic this is just cheap cardboard and special effects…
Instead of refurbing it with a “Tron” feel why not just put the upcoming Tron e ticket in Epcot? It has to do with science and computers albeit fictional. They could even attach it to a larger pavillion with allkinds of future computer tech which would fit nicely into the world fair portfolio. Can’t help but feeling that once again WDW got ripped off.
Thanks for the great video Ricky! The new ride looks fantastic. My only issue with is is that after the speed loop it looks like the theme is not picked back up when you enter the building again. Hopefully they just haven’t finished that yet. It possibly could take the guest out of the experience, to go from the “Tron” theme to just a non lit dank tunnel.
I wish Disney had gone all-out with a Tron theme. I’d love to feel like I’m racing through the Grid with light cycles chasing me. EPCOT needs more rides, though. Test Track and Soarin’ get too crowded.
So what makes you special that you can take pictures and video during a Cast preview? Last I checked you couldn’t take any, unless if the rules are different because you can’t in Disneyland
It’s always on a case-by-case basis. In this case, they were actually encouraging it. A cast member offered me a re-ride on Test Track in a car by myself so I could get a better shot.
Wasn’t very impressed after riding it…there is no story that follows you through like before. I liked the old one but I guess I’ll have to learn to like it.
Hmmm…. Was looking forward to seeing it next week… Now I kinda wanna skip it…. Wasn’t really a torn person… I love everything about cars and performance and I don’t see that anymore… I see the same ride just with lame colors
I was on the new test track 2 days ago. Honestly, I never want to go on it again. It was a huge waste of time and it was a let down, to say the least. It used to be my favorite ride in the entire park and now I don’t really feel the urge to go to EPCOT at all.
I have to say, this ride was a big disappointment. I rode it yesterday, and while visually, the attraction is updated and modern, it is very boring. Compared to the old Test Track, which had the excitement of testing your car in different conditions, and even the anticipated “front end crash” surprise, this one is obviously the same ride system, but now you’re testing a “sim car.”
Visually, inside, the whole attraction is dark, highlighted by blue neon graphics. Its a cross between Tron and On-Star. Anyway, the narrator of the whole attraction is telling you what you’re testing, but again, your car just moves around and theres nothing visually to attach to it. It was totally pointless. The whole area of testing ABS brakes vs non-ABS brakes and then into the hot, cold, and chemical tests, was fun in the old version. Now, you’re literally going through the same motion in darkness.
Before the ride, you “create” your own car, and is apparently integrated into the different steps of the attraction. After each ‘test’ you can see how your hot wheels looking car stood up…. but the numbers and the way it is all presented makes absolutely no sense…
I’m sorry to say, but Chevrolet and Disney completely missed the mark on this one, at least if you know what the previous version was like. Personally, I was hoping for a very similar ride. All it needed was an aesthetic refresh to get it out of the 90s.
Fantastic goods from you, man. I’ve understand your stuff previous to and you are just too magnificent.

Usually these kinds of movies can be pretty gory, but they skimped on that and made it PG-13 violence.
The Machine does what it can effectively to raise the ethical and philosophical
questions about the machinery replications of human emotion and compassion as
an indifferent society delves deeper and deeper into the
abyss of technical detachment. Living in Norway during the

It’s amazing how, by borrowing visuals from Tron, this ride manages to evoke a very “80’s look of the future” that past EPCOT had.

There is still an on-ride photo, but it was not operational today. Seems they’re still working on it.
