Discovery Cove at SeaWorld Orlando has opened its newest addition, Freshwater Oasis, offering guests a chance to come face-to-face with otters and marmosets. The new area of the unique water park replaces a former salt water lagoon, which closed when the park’s much larger Grand Reef opened just over a year ago.
Freshwater Oasis features wading adventures through clear springs, covered by a rainforest canopy providing opportunities to both swim and relax while spotting creatures on land and sea.
Creative Director Brian Morrow best explained the ins and outs of Freshwater Oasis during a press event in November 2011:
Freshwater Oasis is included with admission to Discovery Cove, an all-inclusive tropical day resort where guests can swim with dolphins, snorkel with colorful fish and rays, hand-feed exotic birds and relax on pristine beaches, plus enjoy unlimited admission for 14 days to sister parks SeaWorld and Aquatica in Orlando.
Discovery Cove is unlike all other Orlando water parks in that it offers only access to a small number of guests each day, ensuring a peaceful, stress-free experience. Limited to approximately 1,000 guests per day, Discovery Cove requires advance reservations which can be made at DiscoveryCove.com or by calling 1-877-434-7268. Seasonal rates for Discovery Cove’s Dolphin Swim Day Resort Package start at $229 (rates for Day Resort Package without dolphin swim experience and guests ages 3-5 start at $149).
We’ll be experiencing the new Freshwater Oasis soon so check back to Inside the Magic for a full tour inside and around the Discovery Cove addition.
