The Muppets take center stage, beaming with excitement as they pose beside a glittering Hollywood Walk of Fame star, with a colorful Muppets marquee lighting up the background—a joyful tribute to their storied place in Disney’s entertainment legacy.

On the same day their new movie hits home on Blu-ray and DVD, The Muppets today received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of Disney’s El Capitan Theatre.

The celebration was emceed by Chamber President and CEO Leron Gubler, with special guest speakers Rich Ross, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios and Lisa Henson, CEO, The Jim Henson Company. Several Muppets were on hand to receive the star including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, Pepe, Sweetums, and Walter, the newest Muppet, who made his debut in Disney’s 2011 film.

The Muppets’ star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame shines amid a burst of colorful confetti and feathers, honoring these classic Disney entertainers just like they’re celebrated at theme parks and entertainment venues.

“Thanks to creative genius Jim Henson and these extraordinary puppeteers, the Muppets are truly worldwide icons and Hollywood stars,” said Ross. “They are a treasured part of the Disney family, and we’re thrilled to see them join so many other luminaries on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

The Muppets’ star is the 2,466th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is located in front of the historic El Capitan Theatre.
