Isn´t ‘the best 30 minutes of a child’s day’ attention from loving parents and enough food?

    Howdy Pards,

When will these young whippersnapper executives at Disney ever learn that Disney is NOT just about kids!

If you walk into a Disney Store these days you walk into a sea of pink and blue princess plastic and a small Island of “Cars” plastic for little boys?

What about the adults? Back in the good ol’ days, when Walt was still around, Disney wasn’t about pre-teen
little girls in princess outfits. It was about so much more! It was about Davy Crockett, Zorro, real adventure…
and thrilling stories from the old frontier, from the world of tomorrow, from the world of fantasy, and real adventure like Treasure Island and Swiss Family Robinson…

Nostalgia too was a big, big part of Disney. Patriotism. Remember Johnny Tremain? How about Toby Tyler?

The point is Disney has lost so much of the magic of Walt’s original formula…it seems Disney Executives today have spent way too much of their time under the hair dryers at the Bibbity Boppity Boo Boutique!

And don’t get me started on the vast wasteland that is today’s “Disney Channel”…

For gosh sake, go back and take a look at the original Mickey Mouse Club. Variety was the key to it’s success…not mindless things…but stories like Spin and Marty…genuine talent round-up…safety and learning things with Jiminy Cricket…and quiet thoughts to grow by with Jimmy Dodd.

Take a look at what Walt did with his Disneyland show. It wasn’t just for little girls…it was for the WHOLE family!

That is what the Disney Store should be all about! The WHOLE family! Bring back adult clothes, Mickey Mouse and other character watches, art prints, collectibles, the Walt Disney Classics Collection…and throw out the beach towels and cheap plastic!

Not that I have a strong opinion on the matter mind you…but I grew up experiencing Disney magic from the guy who invented it all…and I will always remember just how wonderful, how delightful, how special that magic was for the WHOLE family.

It’s time to remember the magic…and bring it back…not just for new generations…but for all of us…young and old.

I still get a thrill when I remember those magic words from long, long ago… “Walt Disney Presents…”

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

    Wild Ol’ Dan
