If you already have the 2D Blu-ray with the “Beyond Beauty” bonus feature, then the only reason to get the new release would be for the 3D version, if you want that. But I wasn’t impressed by this 3D release.
Interesting. I heard from film sites about the 3D conversion of B&tB and that it was absolutely stunning. Maybe there is a difference between the DVD version and how it is presented on the big screen.
You’re not the first person to tell me that. Perhaps it hasn’t translated to home viewing as well as it did for theaters. The larger the screen, the better the 3D, usually. I was watching it on a large HDTV, so it shouldn’t have been a problem. But perhaps watching this often dark movie immediately after the almost always bright “The Lion King” in 3D influenced my opinion.
I debated to or not to get this movie on 3D after reading a lot of negative reviews for this movie. After deciding to get it I was pleasantly surprised at the clarity of the movie and the beauty of the colors. So glad I didn’t let the negative comments keep me from buying this masterpiece. Maybe it’s not the movie but what the movie is played or watched on that determines how well you see it.
Several others have told me the same. When I sit down to watch my next round of 3D movies (Toy Story 1, 2, and 3 and Cars 2) I will have to re-watch this one to see if perhaps I was mistaken.
Wow! This review goes contrary to the vast majority of the reviews of B&TB 3D Blu Ray. I have the disc and totally disagree with the review here. This looks way better than The Lion King and TLK looks good. There is much more depth on B&TB than on TLK and it looks natural like it was shot that way. If you like 3D both these films are great. For me after seeing movies like this in 3D, I don’t care to see the 2D version at all.
Are the colors in the 2D copy of the movie the same as 2010’s Diamond Edition or is it like the one found on the 3D theatrical trailer ( http://t.co/PE8NhQee ) ? I much prefer the 3D trailer because the colors are much closer to the original, where as 2010’s it was too vibrant. For example in 1:12 of that trailer, Belle’s overall color, from hair to clothes is darker rather than annoying virbant bright.
Also are the blur affects (referencing again at 1:12) also present on both the 2D/3D copy of the combo pack?

I own the 2D bluray. Did this version improve on that or is it simply a 3D update

Please tell me the “Human Again” scene is found somewhere on here. Still one of my favorite Disney songs, and by the far the best in the film.

It’s on there!
