In June Disney announced Rapunzel (from “Tangled”) will officially become the 10th Disney Princess in a special ceremony at Kensington Palace, London. Now details have emerged for the occasion can be watched, no ticket required.
It all takes place in the afternoon of October 2, 2011. Before the ceremony begins, starting at 1pm, a Disney Princess horse-drawn carriage procession will wind through Kensington Gardens, where anyone can line up to watch as the current Disney Princesses, Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White and Tiana, along with Rapunzel, pass by. It’s the first Disney event of its kind in central London, lasting roughly 30 minutes, concluding at Kensington Palace. The best viewing area will be along Mount Walk.
In addition to the Disney Princesses, the ceremony itself will feature VIPs, celebrities and little princesses from around the world the globe – but that portion won’t be accessible to those attending the procession.
A map has been released showing the entire parade route:
And just today Rapunzel’s hair was spotted flowing off the Salt Tower at The Tower of London. The future princess has arrived to do some sightseeing around London before she is officially welcomed as the 10th Disney Princess on Sunday. Rapunzel will be visiting famous London landmarks every day this week (9/26-9/30) and taking pictures along her journey.
UPDATE (9/28/11): Today Rapunzel stopped at the Thames riverside to admire the Tower Bridge in the late September sunshine.
