On Saturday, Disney’s 4-city tour promoting Star Tours: The Adventures Continue made its second stop in Jacksonville, Fla. at the Orange Park Mall. The setup was identical to what was seen at South Florida’s Aventura Mall two weeks ago with no shortage of Star Wars excitement as familiar characters were available to mall guests for free meet-and-greets and photo opportunities.
Jedi Mickey and Leia Minnie were on hand to help build anticipation for the upcoming revamping of the classic Star Wars-based attraction, reopening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 20. The mall tour offers guests a chance to see some of the droids they’ll be flying with on the ride.
Introducing Star Tours 3D, as it’s billed in the tour, was Bree Starlighter, a character new to the Star Wars universe for this tour, acting as the “Chief of Holocommunications” for the Star Tours company. She entertained the small mall crowd and introduced C-3PO and R2-D2, who will play pivotal roles in the new version of the attraction.
Following her introduction, I spoke with Bree Starlighter about Star Tours 3D and then had a brief chat with C-3PO and R2-D2, which you can see in the video below:
The Star Tours 2 mall tour will stop on May 7 at the Westfield Citrus Park Mall in Tampa and conclude on May 14 at The Florida Mall in Orlando, six days before Star Tours: The Adventures Continue opens at Walt Disney World.
