Since Walt Disney World opened the American Idol Experience attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in 2009, it’s become a tradition for each season’s winner to shout “I’m going to Disney World!” and do just that within a few days of victory.
UPDATE (5/27/11): Disney has announced American Idol winner Scotty McCreery will be appearing at Hollywood Studios on Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. He’ll be arriving via motorcade and answering questions on a stage outside the American Idol Experience attraction. Reports that the Top 5 contestants would appear at the park on Sunday have not been confirmed, but fans are invited to see McCreery Monday morning.
UPDATE #2: It seems like the Top 5 will likely be at Hollywood Studios on Sunday. However, they will not be making a scheduled public appearance. If you are there and happen to catch sight of them, then you were in the right place at the right time.
But this year, more Idol contestants than the season 10 winner will be making the trip. According to FOX 35, the top 5 contestants from season 10 will be at Disney’s Idol attraction on Sunday, May 29, including American Idol winner Scotty McCreery, joined by James Durbin, Lauren Alaina, Jacob Lusk, and Hayley Reinhart. Disney has not yet said if the group will be singing, meeting fans, or simply posing for photos.
Two years ago, season 8 winner Kris Allen entertained the crowd by singing a song outside the attraction then offering some advice to future hopefuls inside. Last year, season 9 winner Lee DeWyze also was seen by fans outside and inside the attraction, but surprisingly did not perform a song:
