Entering its 19th year, MegaCon 2011 (short for Mega Convention) will once again bring together fans at Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center to celebrate all that is sci-fi, comic books, anime, and fantasy.
Special celebrity guests enticing fans to attend MegaCon 2011 include Star Trek‘s William Shatner, Robin Curtis, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, and Marina Sirtis, James Marsters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Robot Chicken‘s Matt Senreich, the original TRON‘s Cindy Morgan, and the god of all things Marvel, Stan Lee. A full list of special guests, many of whom will be available for autographs and pictures (at an additional price), can be found on the MegaCon web site.
But it’s not only celebrities that will bring fans to MegaCon 2011 during its 3-day run from March 25-27. Many attendees have been working hard on their latest costumes to show off at the convention, some even ready with a different costume for each of the convention days. The event’s costume contests are always a great source of entertainment, both for those participating and for everyone else watching.
Other MegaCon activities include a number of Q&A sessions with celebrities, speed dating (for all you single geeks out there), belly dancing, shopping for collectibles and artwork from hundreds of exhibitors, and many more discussion panels. (See a full schedule here.)
Advance tickets are no longer on sale, but tickets will be availalbe at the Orange County Convention Center box office all three days of the show. They cost $25 for a single day or $60 for admission to all three.
Show hours are 1 pm to 7pm on March 25, 10am to 6pm on March 26, and 10am to 5pm on March 27.
Our cameras will be there on Saturday, March 26 so if you spot an “Inside the Magic” media name tag, be sure to pose and you might see yourself in our wrap-up gallery next week!
