Disney releases full trailer for CG fairy tale movie “Tangled”

Disney has released the full trailer for its upcoming CG fairy tale movie, “Tangled.” The trailer shows off a few new plot points as well as plenty of slapstick humor and a further glimpse at the main characters of Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder.

There are actually two edits for the trailer, one released for United States audiences and the other for the United Kingdom. I prefer the UK version, which elaborates more on the film’s plot, so here’s that one first:

And the United States version:

It’s interesting to note that the United States version completely leaves out the notion of Rapunzel’s “magic hair” being a major plot element. Perhaps Disney feels US audiences would lose interest on a “magic” element being introduced in an otherwise seemingly action-adventure film (or at least that’s how it’s being spun).

The film stars the voices of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider, Donna Murphy as Mother Gothel, Ron Perlman, Jeffrey Tambor and Brad Garrett.

Disney’s official “Tangled” plot summary is as follows:

When the kingdom’s most wanted — and most charming — bandit, Flynn Rider (voice of Zachary Levi), hides out in a mysterious tower, he’s taken hostage by Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo set off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs. Disney’s Tangled is a story of adventure, heart, humour and hair — lots of hair.

“Tangled” opens in Disney Digital 3D in the US on Thanksgiving weekend, November 24, 2010 and in UK cinemas on January 28, 2011.
