The Epic Universe is Universal’s newest and largest theme park. The theme park is set to open in 2025 and we are starting to see major construction take place at the site.

Twitter account @bioreconstruct shared an aerial photo where we can see major progress being made at Epic Universe, including the laying of track for roller coasters.

The photo you see with a yellow track on both sides is for a rumored “dueling” coaster that will be in the Central Hub of Epic Universe. The attraction will have two identical coasters that “duel” with one another with mirrored tracks. The attraction is rumored to have a space theme to match Epic Universe’s theme.

In addition to the dueling coasters, the Epic Universe will have a Super Nintendo World, as well as many other rumored lands, including an addition to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Classic Monster Land, and How to Train Your Dragon land.

The theme park will also have a hotel at its back, with several other hotel properties being built around it.

The mean green one terrified a young girl during an interaction at Universal Orlando, reminding her why The Grinch wanted to steal Christmas.

As Universal Orlando Resort celebrates the most wonderful time of the year across Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of adventure, Guests are eager to experience the spirit of the holidays with breathtaking offerings like the Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s, Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Grinchmas with the citizens of Who-ville and the fan-favorite holiday hater, The Grinch.

While many fans are eager to visit The Grinch at Universal Orlando, a young girl had a less-than-fun experience during her encounter with the mean green one, leaving the spot terrified as The Grinch mumbled in frustration and anger.

The video of this interaction was posted by Brittany Patten (@queen19bee86) on TikTok. In it, we can see a young girl happy to meet The Grinch, although a little shy to interact with the holiday hater at first. After a few words, the girl’s mother tells her to give The Grinch a present she was holding, telling the mean green one that since he’s the Holiday Cheermeister, he gets the first gift of Christmas, making The Grinch visibly nervous.

The hairy character proceeded to open the gift, only to find out it was an electric razor, which clearly didn’t make him too happy. The poor girl froze as “she had no idea what was in the box,” as her mother commented in the video’s caption, and her smile instantly left her face. Her nerves grew when The Grinch pulled off her hat and asked the girl if she wanted a little haircut, making her walk away from the photo spot shaking her head.

“Did you really give me a razor?” Asked The Grinch, adding, “Oh my gosh! Wait till the Who’s get a hold of this. That Mayor, he’s gonna be laughing, oh, his nose off.” Surely The Grinch’s heart shrunk two sizes that day as he passed the unpleasant gift to a Universal Team Member and turned to give the family a nasty look before the video ended.

While the poor girl was terrified after seeing The Grinch’s reaction to the present, which was a surprise to both, the interaction is undoubtedly a memory the family will cherish for life and hopefully laugh about it in a few years.

Universal Orlando is a popular tourist spot for its theme parks. Universal has two different theme parks and a water park: Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Island of Adventure, and Universal’s Volcano Bay.

Each theme park is very different. At Universal Studios Florida, Guests can enjoy E.T. Adventure, Revenge of the Mummy, The Simpsons Ride, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon, and many other attractions. Universal’s Island of Adventure includes attractions like Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Doctor Doom Fearfall, The Amazing Adventure of Spider-man, and many more

However, we are sad to report that one beloved area will be Universal Studios Florida. The Hello Kitty Store, located in Production Central and Hollywood, will be closing after many years opened in the spot. The Hello Kitty Store included more than just Hello Kitty part of a store that included Betty Boop, Funko, and Universal Studios general merchandise.

Escape rooms have been a popular outing for years now. Popping up across the globe, these businesses offer both a challenge and entertainment for many different groups from birthday parties to company retreats, and come in a variety of different themes. If you’ve ever been to one of these, you’ve probably had the same thought as many others, “They really need to make an escape room from my favorite movie!”. Well, look no further!

Universal Orlando Resort announced back in June of this year that they would be opening up two themed escape rooms based on two of their post popular franchises: Back to the Future (1985) and Jurassic World (2015) as part of their Citywalk area. At the time, little was known about what these escape rooms would consist of, and no opening date was given, but with fantastic theming from these two franchises, and a real uptick in design from Universal in attractions and properties like Harry Potter and Jurassic World, fans could certainly expect a lot.

As of today, reservations for these new experiences at Universal are now open, and the first available date: December 9, 2022! Much sooner than expected, guests will be able to put their skills to the test in groups of 8 or less to beat the clock, and the puzzles in these ‘Escape Adventures’, titled Back to the Future: Outatime, and Jurassic World: Escape. With a tagline that states, “This is no ordinary escape room experience”, guests are sure to be in for some surprises.

Universal also provided some brief description for each of the two rooms, highlighting the basic plot, and what guests can expect. About their Back to the Future offering, the website states:

“Great Scott—Biff’s at it again! He’s stolen Doc Brown’s newest time travel device to sabotage the timeline for his gain. Follow Doc’s clues to find the prototype, track down Biff and save the day before you’re outatime. No escape room in the past, present or future has ever been like this. Choose from individual tickets or private group adventures of up to 8.”

As fun as that sounds, the Jurassic World themed room will definitely give it stiff competition, with a plot that sounds reminiscent of the first film in the reboot franchise:

“Find yourself in a secret genetics lab on Isla Nublar and use your wits to solve a serious problem: an apex predator has broken free and is headed your way. This escape room has more teeth (and claws) than anything you’ve experienced before. Choose from individual tickets or private group adventures of up to 8.”

These experiences are sure to be booked fast, and are billed for guests of all ages. Universal’s Great Movie Escape will start taking bookings next Friday, December 9th, and will offer the option of one of the two experiences for either individual or group ticket rates.

A concerned couple recently asked if Universal Orlando Resort is suitable for kids, but is the Orlando theme park really that bad for younger Guests?

Florida is one of the most important capitals of entertainment in America. Being home to Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, LEGOLAND Florida Resort, and more, it’s no wonder why millions of Americans and even international travelers pick the Sunshine State for their family vacations every year.

While the state has plenty of family-friendly theme parks, a concerned couple recently asked if Universal Orlando Resort was bad for younger children, as they were planning a family vacation to Orlando in February. User u/Unpaid_Movie_Critic posted on the Universal Orlando Subreddit to ask fellow fans if their kids could actually enjoy their experience while visiting the Park, as Universal has many attractions that are more aggressive, so to say, than its Disney counterpart.

The full post reads:

I’ve heard that Disney is better for this age but is Universal “bad” for that age? Family trip coming in February and we are thinking of dumping Disney all together and sticking to Universal. We have kids 12, 10, 6, and 4. Though the 4 and 6 year old will JUST be turning 4 and 6. The youngest will just barely make 42″ but should be good with shoes on! Also, the bravest of our bunch.

I’m a little torn on whether Disney would be a much better place for the younger two (we aren’t a Disney family as far as themes go). We are thinking of taking advantage of the 2 day promo and just going 4 shorter days rather than long days. Plus we have a rental about 15 minutes from the park so in theory my wife could take the younger ones off the park and the older kids could ride coasters with me.

Anyway, just looking for some experiences you might have had with younger kids at Universal vs Disney. I personally could care less about Disney and much prefer Universal all around.

I can’t believe I’m becoming one of those parents that try to cater to a 4 year old but I guess it comes with age. This won’t be a trip we make again for a few years (if at all) for sure.

While Universal might not be recognized as a “child-friendly” theme park, both Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure have plenty of activities for younger Guests, from attractions to shows and activities, including Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, E.T. Adventure, Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl, The Simpsons Ride, Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, Caro-Seuss-el, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, The Cat in the Hat, The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride!, and Pteranodon Flyers.

In addition, every ride and attraction has a family room that allows Guests to enjoy some of the most thrilling rides even when their children are too young or don’t want to ride the attraction, taking advantage of the Parks’ child swap system. Universal describes the child swap system as follows:

If your children are too small or unwilling to go on a particular ride that you want to experience, take advantage of our “child swap” program. Each ride and attraction has a family room where one member of your party can wait with the little ones while the rest of your party rides. Once they are finished, switch places so whoever rode can stay with the kids, and the adult(s) who sat out can enjoy the ride.

Universal also has nursing facilities at Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and Universal’s Volcano Bay, double strollers available for rent, and all restrooms in the Parks have diaper-changing stations for the convenience of Guests traveling with younger children.

While each family’s experience is different when visiting Universal Orlando Resort, or any theme park for that matter, all Guests need to know that theme parks across the country work hard to be a family-friendly environment where Guests young and old can enjoy a day packed with fun and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Disney has been in a league of its own when it comes to entertainment and theme parks.

A media giant, The Walt Disney Company is known for its powerful brands like Disney Pixar, Lucasfilms, Marvel, as well as its Resorts, like Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Disney pulls in billions of dollars in revenue each and every year from its Parks Division alone, but things might finally be making way for some real competition.

Universal has been making strides over the last few years and we’ve seen it in the increased revenue at its theme parks, especially at Universal Orlando Resort, as well as its entertainment successes. Just this past summer, Universal’s Despicable Me: Rise of Gru blew Disney’s Lightyear out of the water in box office proceeds.

Minions and Gru

If that wasn’t enough, many theme park experts have begun to peg Universal as the “industry leader” in theme park technology. In less time than it took for Disney to construct TRON Lightcycle/Run, Universal will have constructed Epic Universe, an all-new theme park. Once that theme park is completed, Universal Orlando will have three world-class theme parks and the expectation is that competition could heat up in a major way.

It has been common practice for Universal to take subtle jabs or comment on matters related to Walt Disney World Resort. But, what hasn’t been common practice is for Disney to comment on its competition, or even acknowledge that it exists.

How many times have you heard anything Universal or Warner Bros. related when visiting Disney? How many times has a Universal property been mentioned in a Disney movie or television show? The answer is simply almost never.

Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom

That is, until the latest Disney+ series was released.

In The Santa Clauses, we see Scott Calvin (played by Tim Allen) take a trip down south to meet with his son Charley. In the clip, Scott is wearing a white soup with a top hap and Charley asks him if he’s getting ready to “open Jurassic Park.”

While this is just a subtle mention, it certainly points to changes in what we’ve seen in the past. Past Disney shows and entertainment would never even acknowledge that something outside of the realm of the World of Disney even existed. Much less mention it– knowing that fans will understand the reference– in one of its premiere shows.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus

It’s just a small comment, but it could be a sign of things to come.

You don’t acknowledge competition exists, unless it does. Right?

Do you think that Universal could become a legitimate competitor in the future with Disney?

Recently, one Universal Guest decided to interrupt a performance of the beloved show Oh! The Stories You”ll Hear!, which is unsafe for the characters and Team Members around. Team Members do their best to keep the characters and Guests safe and make memories that will last a lifetime.

User @kdriskk shared the video on TikTok.

Universal describes Oh! The Stories You”ll Hear! as daily shows featuring your favorite Dr. Seuss characters: The Cat in the Hat™ with Thing One™ and Thing Two™, Sam-I-Am (of Green Eggs and Ham fame), The Grinch™, and the Lorax—all dancing to musical “tellings” of the good doctor’s best-loved stories.

This Guest runs up to The Cat in The Hat to get a selfie with him, and the Team Member quickly gets her off the stage.

Do you think this Guest was wrong for intruding on the show?

Whenever you visit Universal Orlando Resort, all Guests enter through a hub called Universal’s CityWalk.

Universal’s CityWalk is home to numerous restaurants, shops, a movie theater, a miniature golf course, clubs, and will soon house Universal’s Great Escape, an all-new escape room set to open soon.

As Universal continues its construction of several areas, a massive update has been made to an area that was a popular spot for kids at Universal CityWalk.

Twitter account @InsideUniversal shared a photo on the social media platform.

The CityWalk splash play area is no more. It’s been replaced with a seating area.

As you can see in the picture, the splash pad– which had been a staple at CityWalk for decades– has now been removed and, in its place, a seating area has been erected.

This area was popular for the kiddos, especially in the spring and summertime, as a way to beat the heat and play in the water while visiting.

In addition, Universal previously announced that the Woody Woodpecker KidZone would be closing, and with it five major attractions in Fievel’s Playland, Shrek and Donkey meet and greet, Curious George Goes to Town, DreamWorks Destination, and Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster would be closed permanently.

This closure is set to make way for something “bigger and better.” Even though the splash area might be gone and the KidZone might be closing down permanently, don’t worry! There’s still plenty for the kiddos to enjoy while visiting Universal Orlando. Check out our guide here.
