You Can Still See a Gingerbread House at Disneyland Resort This Year!

One of the most anticipated holiday treats (and not the edible kind!) will be missing this year from the Disney Resorts on both coasts. The famous gingerbread house displays at both Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at Disneyland will not be filling the lobbies with that sweet holiday scent of molasses and spices this year.

Above and below photos are from past years. Disney’s Grand Californian still does not have a timeline for reopening, but if they were open, Disneyland more than likely would have opted to skip out this year, just as Walt Disney World did.  With such extravagant displays as such, it’s difficult to maintain a safe physical distance and be able to appreciate the intricate detailing that goes into designing and building these magnificent pieces each year.

But fret not! If you’re on the West Coast or planning a trip to the West Coast for the wintertime, it’s still a reason to be jolly. Downtown Disney District says that holiday cheer is here and that’s in fact correct! The decorations at World of Disney are coming out in full festive force and there’s still something that can fill your gingerbread void.

If you’re a fan of the Disney gingerbread houses, there’s still one that you can go see. It’s not going to give off that signature scent that reminds you of Haunted Mansion Holiday as you ride past the ballroom scene, but it sure still has that Disney magic.

It’s Mickey and Minnie’s Gingerbread home, and they’re standing right outside it as their gingerbread selves ready to greet you this holiday season! Oh, they’re right in front of the very Merry Christmas Disneyland Holiday Spirit Jerseys too! This Disney gingerbread house is social distancing safe — and you can still take a cute little “elfie” selfie in front of it.

Come for the Disneyland gingerbread house, but stay for all the Christmas shopping for the Disney lovers in your life. Maybe even purchase an unwrapped toy to donate at this year’s Toys for Tots Toy Drive where you can find donation boxes at World of Disney.
